"Heck, I've literally grown up in front of the camera. I didn't know anything about acting when I started. I was so bad. I was oblivious. But I have learned something new everyday since then."
--Jennie Garth |
| Brief Bio on the Garth gal: |
How does it feel to have a doll
modeled after your character? It so happens that Jennie Garth is one of the few actresses who has
her face plastered on fashion figures found in toy departments nationwide. On many occasions,
Jennie has been the spotlight of shopping malls everywhere, in which she has been engulfed by
crazed fans. This young woman also receives more fanmail than any of her female counterparts in
Spelling's Beverly Hills, 90210. You would think that after being on numerous teen
magazine covers and the topic of conversation every Wednesday night, all that fame would make
her ego go haywire. On the contrary, however, Jenny feels otherwise. "I don't even think of
myself as a celebrity. It is difficult to see myself on the cover of a magazine, and I can't
relate when I'm reading an article about myself," Garth states. With that kind of attitude, it’s
no wonder why you rarely see Jennie being exploited as a stuck-up celeb by those cheesy tabloids.
Even Jennie's 90210 co-star, Ian Zierling, understands her modest personality, "Jennie takes
everything with a grain of salt and doesn't let it go to her head."
Jenny has not always lived in the glamour of Hollywood. This blonde diva actually grew up on a ranch in
Illinois. The farm environment, along with the many animals that lived there, provided Jennie
the appeal and attachment she feels with animals. Not surprisingly, Jennie is an active member
of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and is a vegetarian.
Jennie's acting
career was initiated when she was spotted by a talent agent during a beauty pageant. Although
Jennie had originally wanted to become a dancer, she decided to take a chance at acting. Hence,
she moved to Los Angeles where she took acting classes, and obtained her first acting gig on the
Barbara Eden series Brand New Life.
Jenny can now be seen on made-for-TV films,
as well as her current prime-time soap, Beverly Hills, 90210--where she plays Kelly
Taylor. It was this television series that shot Jennie’s acting career high and allowed many
fans and casting directors to acknowledge her presence. Jennie's success with the entertainment
industry has furthered aspects in her acting career--enabling her to both direct and produce.
Jennie even manages to run her own production company, Blue Puddle Productions. Her ability to
take up more than just acting will probably allow her to become a major director someday. In
fact, that is what Jenny inspires to do, "I know I have the ability to do so much more than just
stand in front of the camera the rest of my life."
